MARCH 4, 2008 MARK YOUR CALENDARS - TECH QUARTERLY DINNER
We hope everyone will be able to attend the March Dinner (5:30 pm until?)! Tell all your Tech friends and let them know how much fun we have together.
We will be handing out new "information" sheets to everyone. Please complete and give us you updated addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, so we can be sure we get all the news to everyone.
Did you know that when we had our 50lh (1957 class) reunion we had two couples celebrating their anniversaries? Martha (Strickland) and George Wise celebrated their 50th anniversary with us. Also John and Ellen Adair celebrated their 45th anniversary with us.
We were sorry Ron Eicher and his wife couldn't make it to the reunion as they were celebrating their 50th anniversary with family and friends. They now live in Las Vegas, NV. Congratulations to them!!
We had some new faces at the December Dinner. Great Lo see John Hudson (now living in Texas on his ranch).
Wow! Linda Thomas (Buck Thomas' wife) has co-authored a book with a long time friend and they had a very fun and successful book signing at Linda and Buck’s home!
Guess whose book George and Shirley Johnson are studying in their Sunday School class, none other than our own Jimmy Moore. We understand there is a chapter about George in the book. Watch out George!!!
Welcome back to Memphis!! Evelyn Taylor Sharpe and Wilroy McElhaney have moved back home and we are sure glad to have them.
Surprise!! Edith Taylor Langlois has retired!! It was effective December, 2007; She is one happy gal. We are so excited for her.
Need a roof replaced? Who is replacing Betty Blakey Cook's for her? Bill Hamm (55). Is Is your roof worn out or sagging, just give him a call!! His wife is Betty Jolly a Techite also.
We are so glad to hear Rawley Cain, Red Strickland, and Dan Martini (Pat Gentry's husband) are all doing well. All three had stents put in recently. Also Elaine (Brademeyer) and husband Tom McAdams are doing better from their surgeries. Elaine had some eye problems and Torn had gall bladder surgery. George Johnson has recently been in the hospital. He didn't want Shirley who was in the hospital earlier to get all the attention of those nurses!!! We are so glad both are mending!!! Gilbert Shelby's wife is doing well after heart surgery. Also we glad to hear Patsy (Vickers) Martin is on the mend after several surgeries. We Tech folks have a great prayer chain!!
Did you see Baxter Turnage in the Memories Section of the Commercial Appeal just a few weeks ago!! Read that section. There have been several Techites showing up there!!
We were saddened to hear Robert Vaughn (55) passed away recently. Also recently we heard Judy Albright has passed away. Please remember the families in your prayers.
It's never too late to say THANKS!! Everyone wants to thank Max Elkins for doing a great job as chairman of our 50th Class Reunion for the class of 1957. Also, a special thanks to all those who served on the committees. Thanks to the class of 1957 for always including the 1955,56,58 and others for inviting us to the reunion. We want to thank Coach Sivert for working it out so we could get in to our good old Tech High School. It was really fun!!
Speaking of Reunions, have you heard? We are going to begin having a casual annual reunion beginning with this June, 2008. The reunion will be held at the Shriner's in Olive Branch, MS. Yes, that is the same place we had the Friday night casual get together in 2007. At this time we are looking at Saturday, June 7, 2008 (time not set yet). We will be having Corky's Bbq with the trimmings. Also, we plan to have a DJ and some dancing!!! The cost will be $15 per person. JoAnn McIlvain has agreed to be our treasurer.
